inconstancy!

In Drivel on July 4, 2010 at 2:44 am

I don’t care if that’s a real word or not. DEAL with it.

So my life, in this moment, consists of manically poring through wedding websites, listening to quiet romantic music, and pondering why the little dangling thing at the back of my throat is still so swollen I’m practically swallowing it. Charming, I know.

Tomorrow I’m going to celebrate my favorite holiday of all time: the Fourth of July. Some idi@s are setting off fireworks now, the dum dums. I don’t like it when people jump the gate with holiday celebrating! The Fourth of July is a sacred American tradition that should be observed with holy sanctity. (Not being sacrilegious right now I swear).

Anyway, I will be celebrating by watching my coworkers get smashed. After I have the delight of seeing THAT  I’ll be heading down to the OldPort with my high school crush and all my friends.

Tomorrow I plan on taking a THOUSAND pictures and then posting the truly delightful ones here. So there, you nonexistent viewer — you have something to live for.

bonne chance, people of earth. (setting off on a good note).

now playing: wounded by third eye blind

This morning, among other things, I began prep for a new painting I started a couple of weeks ago. I did the wash in white, so it’s taken a while for the paint to even become tacky. Anyway I decided on what I wanted to paint this morning when I woke up and then I invented a different way of thinning the paint. It isn’t new, it’s just different for me.

Used:

Mason jar
Plastic paint knife
too much paint thinner
too much paint.

Then I closed the jar and shook it up really good. I was pleased with the result until I needed to down grade the color, and I darkened it with the wrong shade of black. I redeemed everything by just putting a dollop of undiluted cerulean on the the canvas and mixing THAT with the turpentine-paint mixture. It came out nicely because I used a fan brush, which is actually a pain in the butt to do oils with but whatever.

So here it is:

We’ll see how it goes.

I love how mundane I sound today. It’s like I’m almost a normal person, who does nothing interesting or insane.

aren’t we just terrified?

my dear friend amanda, walkity walking

5 SONGS FOR RIGHT THIS SECOND

1. The District Sleeps Alone (The Postal Service)
-This song is pretty intense. I love the lyrics.

2. Just For Now (Imogen Heap)
-I don’t see how anyone can function in life without Imogen’s music. To me, it’s really fresh and clean and brutally honest. This song especially–it’s about Christmas and how it really is with your family during that time.

3. Closer (Kings of Leon)
-If I could have a song as a husband…

4. I’m On Fire (John Mayer)
-I love this song, and whilst my iTunes Library thinks I’ve listened to it 1.497 times, I am listening to this in moderation so I don’t get sick of it.

5. Roslyn (Bon Iver & St. Vincent)
-Specially from the New Moon soundtrack, this song is just so so so beautiful. Full of that terrifying angst, depression, and pointlessness I often succumb to this time of year. đŸ™‚

how does that humiliation taste?

afternoon in the fields.

Thoughts:

1. I need a shower

2. Why do I love The Nanny so much?

3. I’m starting to get that theatre itch–the itch that comes along every spring and makes me do anything to be in a production again. I might even do Charlotte’s Web if I have to.

4. What shall I do to begin my 2010: Year of Not Eating?

5. One of the things I miss most about being home home is being able to listen to hi-def music whenever I want. Here it messes with my Nana’s hearing aids.
